Termini potapljaških tečajev

Po svetu deluje več potapljaških šol, imenujemo jih asociacije. Sorodna asociacija imenujemo tisto potapljaško šolo, katera doseženi nivo znanja (stopnjo izobrazbe) pri določeni potapljaški šoli prizna tudi druga asociacija. V praksi to pomeni, da SCUBA Diver, dosežen pri NAUI-ju, lahko nadaljuje šolanje pri kateri od drugih asociacij, in obratno. Lahko pa dela tudi tako imenovani CrossOver tečaj, tako kandidatu druga asociacija podeli enakovreden naziv (npr.: inštruktor pri CMAS-u sme delati CrossOver tečaj za inštruktorja pri NAUI-ju). Ker pa med temi asociacijami prihaja do različnih odstopanj, niso vse med seboj enakovredne.
